| Description: Duke Ellington's classic has been arranged here by Lennie Niehaus at the grade 3 level for string orchestra with optional rhythm section parts. The melody is shared by different sections and a chorus for solos is offered. The solo section in this moderate swing arrangement can be repeated for many soloists, played by an entire string section, or omitted entirely. An idiomatic written solo is provided for each instrument for those soloists not able to improvise. This is a great way to get your strings playing with a jazz concept. |
