| Description: The chaconne was originally a dance form, probably originating in Latin America, which became popular in Spain in the early 17th century. Like the passacaglia, it is a series of variations over a recurring bass line. Based on a chaconne by Handel, every section has a to shine as both the melody and bass lines are passed around from section to section. The finale restates the Chaconne theme and is broad and full, building to a dramatic ending. |
