49935 Etude, Op. 2 No. 1

Scriabin, Alexander N. (Ed. Edlund) (Arr. Edlund, Ian) Score
Category: String Orchestra
Grade: Medium Difficult
Instrumentation: str=8.8.5.5.5
Comments: Transcribed for strings by Ian Edlund.
Description: This familiar and hauntingly beautiful Etude, composed for the piano in 1887, when the composer was fifteen years old,is very playable and demonstrates the young Scriabin's harmonic sophistication. The original key of c-sharp minor has been transposed to make it more playable for strings without losing the warmth of the original. The expressive character of the melodic lines, lends itself to rubato. Balance is of major imporatance and melodic lines dominate the texture.
