| Description: The original Concerto was scored for two solo violins and solo cello accompanied by the string orchestra, Corelli's standard orchestration. In this arrangement, the solo parts have been incorprated into the orchestral parts and noted as (optional) solos. The violin III/viola II part, while not necessary to the performance, adds a pleasing fullness to the texture, and should be used whenever possible. Likewise, the keyboard part, marked Piano, adds solidity to the texture, and sounds wonderful played on an electronic keyboard with a good harpsichord tone. Harry Fisher has added bowings and articulations and a few dynamic suggestions. Directors should feel free to add other expressive markings as they prepare the work. Fisher has also added little cadenzas for the solo violins in the adagio section, and small ornaments in the following allegro for the solo parts. |
