| Description: This standard for beginning orchestras has a new twist to it. I found that this melody was so much easier to teach in 4/4 than in 3/4. It is still in D major and contains no altered fingerings. The tempo marking of quarter note = 100 is very playable for your younger students, and the dynamic marking is always forte so that your orchestra can focus on the notes. The piece contains pizzicato and arco sections for the upper and lower strings with the melody in both the upper and lower strings. This easy three-part harmony (Vln. 1, Vln. 2/Vla, Vlc/ Cb.) arrangement has bowings marked and is a great piece to show off your group when they are comfortable with the D-major scale. |
