| Description: This well-known excerpt from Camille Saint-Saens’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’ appears in its original form as a cello solo accompanied the two pianists. It is presented here designed to be performed by the entire cello section, accompanied by the rest of the string orchestra with harp. Fingerings in the part are designated to allow expressive musicality. Cellists of the ‘old school’ may find the bowings a bit heretical, but they are very conductive to the desired musical result. A simplified harp part (not shown in the score) is provided. |
